What's New and Noteworthy

A sobering article in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, which is the premier Orthopaedic Surgery journal in the world, recently indicated that only half of the claims made in the advertisements in the Journal were supported by enough scientific data to be used effectively by orthopaedic surgeons such as myself.

Almost half of the claims in the advertisements in the journal were considered to be unsupported by scientific data.

This means that as a surgical professional I must be extremely vigilant in my choice of treatment for my patients because advertisements that I read in my premier Orthopaedic Surgery specialty journal are only half of the time supported by scientific data.

I promise you I will be careful!
