What's New and Noteworthy

I came across some information recently that I thought was particularly interesting.

A Meritt Hawkins survey of 1,162 medical offices recently tracked the average time needed to schedule a physician appointment in 5 different medical specialties.

The survey covered 15 areas across the United States and found that waiting times have a very large range.

The longest wait times overall were found in Boston with and average of 70 days to see an OB/Gyn Specialist.

The average waiting time to see an Orthopaedic Surgeon was 40 days.

I have known over the years of some medical offices wanting to keep patients waiting to demonstrate how important they were and how much in demand. In effect, the longer the wait the better the physician’s skill and ability.

I have always been of the opposite opinion; that I should try to see patients as quickly as possible because it is the right thing to do and it is what patients want and need.
